Biography

Medical Specialist in Infectious Diseases since 2005, she obtained a Ph.D. in Infectious Sciences and Immunological Therapies at La Sapienza University of Rome in 2009.

During the years 2005/2006, in response to the natural disaster “Tsunami” and the consequences of the civil war in the state of Sri Lanka, worked in various positions for the National, German, and International Red Cross.

On this occasion, she gained documented experience in managing emergency situations following natural disasters or armed conflicts requiring immediate medical intervention. From 2007 to 2008, she conducted numerous scientific research projects and was the recipient of several research grants at the Department of Public Health and Infectious Diseases of Sapienza University of Rome.

Infectious Disease Consultant from 2007 to 2016 at IRCSS NEUROMED Mediterranean Neurological Institute Pozzilli (IS). From 2009 to 2014, she served as a Medical Specialist at the C.A.R.A. (Reception Center for Asylum Seekers) in Europe in Castelnuovo Porto, Italy.

Currently she works as a Medical Director at the Division of High-Intensity Care Infectious Diseases at the Lazzaro Spallanzani National Institute for Infectious Diseases in Rome. Her clinical research is primarily focused on the clinical management of patients with classic, emerging, and re-emerging infectious and tropical diseases, including patients with highly contagious infectious diseases.

She also participates in European projects (SHARP Joint Action) aimed at improving the management and preparedness for possible cases of high-consequence infectious diseases of viral, bacterial, or parasitic etiology. Confirmed experience in infectious diseases related to healthcare. She is the author of numerous publications in prestigious international journals and has received research grants and awards.

Since October 2023, she has been teaching at the Department of Medicine at the Saint Camillus International University of Health Sciences – UniCamillus, Rome.
