Biography

I obtained a degree in Medicine and Surgery and a specialization in Neurology at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart and a specialization in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Magna Graecia University of Catanzaro. I also obtained the title of PhD in “Advanced Technology in Rehabilitation Medicine” at the University of Rome Tor Vergata.

I work at the IRCCS Fondazione S. Lucia in Rome where I deal with high intensity neurorehabilitation and, in particular, the rehabilitation of people with spinal cord injury. Since August 2022, I have been director of Operational Unit 1 and of the Spinal Center at the S. Lucia Foundation. Since 2010, I have been director of the SpiRe (Spinal Rehabilitation) laboratory

I carry out research mainly focused on spinal cord injuries and am the author of more than 110 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals (H Index 41, 4744 citations). I have been and am responsible for numerous research projects, including peer-reviewed ones.

I was a teacher of Anatomy of the Nervous System for the physiotherapy and speech therapy degree courses at the University of Tor Vergata (S. Lucia Foundation headquarters). I am a teacher and tutor of the residents of the specialization school in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Tor Vergata.
