Luigi Rigante

Biography

Graduated in Medicine and Surgery and specialized in Neurosurgery from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Rome. He also obtained a II-Level Post Graduate Degree in Vertebral Minimally Invasive Surgery at La Sapienza University of Rome. After completing a fellowship in vascular neurosurgery at the Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen (Netherlands), he worked as a neurosurgeon at the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates). Since 2020, he has been working as a Neurosurgeon at the Klinikum Bremen Mitte in Germany, where, since 2023, he has been Deputy Director of the Department of Neurosurgery.

During his career, he credits clinical and research activities at prestigious Italian and foreign institutions, including Cornell University in New York (USA) and the Eberhard Karls Universität in Tübingen (Germany).

He is currently a research associate at the Radboud UMC in Nijmegen and the Amsterdam UMC (Netherlands). His clinical and research interests include vascular neurosurgery, basicranium and spinal surgery. He is the author of numerous internationally reviewed volumes and articles, as well as a reviewer and member of the editorial board of several neurosurgical journals.

He has been an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio (USA).

In 2023, he received the Italian National Scientific Eligibility to be a Second-Level Professor (Area 06/E3: Neurosurgery and Maxillofacial Surgery).
