Biography

He is a health economist whose scientific activities lay in the fields of the decision modelling for evaluation of healthcare programs, pharmacoeconomics, health policy, and emergency management.

Since 2023  he is actually a Research Director at the Istituto Nazionale di Statistica (ISTAT) and, according to the D.Lgs. n. 165/2001, Professor of Political Economy and Applied Economics at the St. Camillus International University of Health and Medical Sciences, Rome. Since 2013 he holds a visiting position as Professor on Assignement at the Paris Sorbonne – Abu Dhabi.  Since 2012 he is an Officer (ranked Sr. Lieutenant)   of the Red Cross Military Corps. From 2006 to 2019 he was a Research Scientist and a Professor of Health Economics and Political Economy at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Rome. From 2012 to 2017 he has been work package leader of the FP7 EU project MUNROS investigating the impact of the new health professional roles within 9 EU countries. From 2019 to 2023 he has been a Research Scientist at the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS). He holds an Msc in Economics, an MA in Engineering and a PhD in Health Economics.
He has published more than 60 scientific papers in peer reviewed health economics and clinical journals as: journal of health economics, the European Journal of Health Economics, Value in health, Health Policy, Pharmacoeconomics, Technovation, PlosOne, the Lancet.
Since 2013, he holds the national qualification as Associate Professor of Economics (SSD SECS P02).
He is married with two children.
