Biography

Graduated in Chemistry in 1997, he obtained the PhD in Biochemistry in 2002.

From 2002 to 2004 he worked as Marie Curie Research Fellow at the Department of Biochemistry of the University of Cambridge (UK). From 2005 to 2017 he was Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the University “G. d’Annunzio” of Chieti-Pescara. Since 2017, he is Full Professor of Biochemistry at the same University.

Over the years he has held various academic roles. He is currently Coordinator of the PhD School in Biomolecular and Pharmaceutical Sciences and member of the Discipline Board of the University of Chieti-Pescara. Since 2017, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Italian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SIB).

The research activity is focused on the study of the relationships between structure and function in proteins of medical and biotechnological interest. In particular, in recent years, attention has focused on the role played by nucleophosmin in the pathogenesis of acute myeloid leukemia.

He is the author of 75 publications in international peer-reviewed journals (H index 27), and of numerous conference communications as an invited speaker
