He is Head of the Cardiac Surgery Unit at the European Hospital in Rome. He was responsible for clinical training in total artificial heart implantation and ventricular assistance systems at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City (USA).

He trained professionally at the University of L’Aquila and Turin and at the XIII and VI Universities of Paris.
