He spent periods abroad: at the Academic Department of Haematology and Cytogenetics, Royal Marsden Hospital and Institute of Cancer Research,  London,UK,  and at the “Assumption of Mary” Catholic Dispensary P.O. Box 68 Ithanga – Kenya.

Research Activity focused on: the study of the immune system remodeling and chronic inflammatory processes of immunosenescence and relative correlated pathologies; the immunopathogenetic mechanisms of osteoporosis and their clinical-therapeutical implications; allergy in the elderly; gender medicine and immune mediated physiopathological conditions; microbiota, miRNA and the Immune System.

He is author or co-author of more than 130 research papers published on International peer-reviewed and indexed journals.
