Michele de Laurentiis, PhD, is an anthropologist, independent filmmaker and participatory video practitioner. He carried out ethnographic research in Italy, focusing on the health system in prison as well as migratory process in urban context. He has then developed a long-term ethnographic fieldwork in Bolivia, with Andean indigenous groups. His research focused on conflict over natural resources and indigenous political systems through the lens of ritual violence.
Michele has led independent Participatory Video projects in UK and Italy, using inclusive video as filmmaking strategy and as a research method. He held seminars and workshops on video making in a number of Universities and Research institutions across Europe and coordinates participatory video programmes and video training for social research at Spectacle, London UK.
