Stefano Masini is Associate Professor of Agricultural and Food Law at the Faculty of Medicine of the Università di Roma Tor Vergata as well as at the corresponding faculty of UniCamillus-Saint Camillus International University of Health Sciences. He is Coordinator for the activities of the Area Ambiente e Territorio of Coldiretti.
He is co-editor of the journal Diritto Agroalimentare, member of the scientific committee of the journals Giustizia Civile, Aestimum and Rassegna of the Arma dei Carabinieri. He contributes to the journal Il Carabiniere and SILVAE (a technical – scientific enviromental journal of Arma dei Carabinieri).
He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Fondazione Santa Chiara and Fondazione Il Nibbio, of the Scientific Committee of the Fondazione per le qualità italiane – Symbola, of the Fondazione Osservatorio sulla criminalità nell’agricoltura e sul sistema agroalimentare, of the Fondazione Campagna Amica, of the EURISPES research institute and of the Scientific Committee of the Centro Ricerche Consumi e Ambiente ‘indagini3’.
He was a member of the Ministry of Agriculture Expo 2015 structure and Vice President of the Caselli Commission for the elaboration of the reform of agri-food crimes. He is member of the National Food Safety Committee. He lectures at the Scuola Ufficiali Carabinieri and at the Scuola Forestale Carabinieri.
He is the author of numerous books, such as: Profili giuridici di pianificazione del territorio e sviluppo sostenibile all’agricoltura (Giuffrè, 1995); Parchi e riserve naturali: contributo ad una teoria della protezione della natura (Giuffrè, 1997); Ambiente, Agricoltura e Governo del territorio (Contribution to a study on the reform of local autonomies) (Giuffrè, 2000); Agricoltura e Regioni. Appunti sulla Riforma Costituzionale (Tellus, 2002); La piccola impresa agricola (Giuffrè, 2004); Diritto alimentare. Una mappa delle funzioni (2014); Appunti per la riforma in materia di reati agroalimentari (Cacucci, 2016); Corso di diritto alimentare (Sixth edition, Giuffrè, 2022); “Tracce” di diritto agrario (Cacucci, 2019); Abusi di filiera (agro-alimentare) e giustizia del contratto (Cacucci 2022). He is co-author, together with Gian Carlo Caselli, of the book C’è del marcio nel piatto (Piemme, 2018) and with Niccolò Abriani, Gian Carlo Caselli, Alfonso Celotto, Fabrizio Di Marzio, Giulio Tremonti, of the book Il diritto e l’eccezione. Stress economico e rispetto delle norme in tempi di emergenza, (Donzelli, 2020).
He received the title of Cavaliere al merito della Repubblica Italiana (2014) and Ufficiale al merito della Repubblica Italiana (2019).
Stefano Masini holds a degree in Law from Università LUISS Guido Carli, where he worked as a researcher in the Centre for Legal Studies for Business.
