UniCamillus’ Professors Maria Rosaria Capobianchi and Antonino Di Caro, Order of Merit of the Italian Republic

Italian President Sergio Mattarella awarded the new heroes who are contributing to the fight against Coronavirus

During the Coronavirus emergency many people were distinguished in their service to the community, representing the “collective endeavour of many of our fellow citizens in the name of solidarity and of constitutional values”. For this very reason President Sergio Mattarella, during his visit in Codogno on June 2nd, awarded with the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic 57 heroes chosen from among medics, nurses and healthcare staff who operated commendably not only in their professional sphere, but also humanely, taking their momentous contribution to the extreme.

Reminding that Italy was one of the first countries to isolate the Coronavirus also thanks to the essential hard work of an excellent medical team of the Spallanzani Hospital in Rome. Among the new Knights of the Italian Republic our President awarded Maria Rosaria Capobianchi, Extraordinary Professor of Molecular Biology in UniCamillus‘ Medicine and Surgery Degree, and Antonino Di Caro, Extraordinary Professor of Bacteriology in UniCamillus’ Medicine and Surgery Degree. In this regard Doctor Capobianchi emphasizes that it is “a result of teamwork, competence and passion of virologists of this institute, for many years on the front line of every medical emergency of our Country”.

UniCamillus is proud to include in their faculty Professors who represent the finest Italy and the medical excellence that fights with passion and determination so as to ensure advancement of scientific knowledge and transfer it to the community, making it available for the prevention and treatment of various pathologies.
