STERILIZATION OPERATOR (O.ST.)

The Sterilization Operator (O.ST.) is a new professional figure able to carry out, in a specialized, qualified, responsible and up-to-date way, his activity in the sterilization chain both within public and private medical and dental centers and outsourcing private and public structures. The Sterilization Operator will be defined and considered as a technician specialized in the processes of decontamination, disinfection, sterilization and quality control of the processes and products deriving from these activities.

PURPOSES

The Sterilization Operator – following the certificate of qualification obtained at the end of a specific professional training – will be able to fully carry out his activity within the sterilization chain. His activities are linked to a role of dependence on needs that the sterilization health activities manager establishes, directs and coordinates:

• within public and private offices / clinics / medical and dental centers;

• in outsourcing public and private structures;

• in collaboration with other professional operators in charge of this role, according to the criterion of multi-professional work.

METHODOLOGY

The course will be delivered in e-learning mode on a platform whose access is 24/7. The learning path is supported by online educational materials that are divided into different modules. The theoretical part will make use of pre-recorded lessons (E-learning) whereas, for the practical part, there are activities aimed at reinforcing and stabilizing the notions transmitted during the lesson. The activities aim at applying theoretical notions to concrete reality by solving problems and finding effective solutions otherwise known as problem solving, role playing, brainstorming.

Duration: the course lasts for 4 months.

TEACHING AREAS

The course aim is to illustrate techniques and technologies from a theoretical point of view also including a careful evaluation of the relationship between costs and benefits as well as becoming familiar with both the techniques and the tools during practical exercises.
