Specialized professional science training course
Academic Year: 2020/2021

Admission requirements

The Sterilization Operator (O.ST.) is a new professional figure able to carry out, in a specialized, qualified, responsible and up-to-date way, his activity in the sterilization chain both within public and private medical and dental centers and outsourcing private and public structures. The Sterilization Operator will be defined and considered as a technician specialized in the processes of decontamination, disinfection, sterilization and quality control of the processes and products deriving from these activities.

The Course is qualified as SCIENCE for its technical-scientific characteristics.

UniCamillus divides the didactic proposal of the First and Second Level Masters and Advanced Courses into the following types:

  • SCIENCE: courses characterized by a purely technical and scientific approach;
  • PLUS: courses characterized by a multidisciplinary approach also containing managerial and extra medical-surgical elements and subjects;
  • EXPERIENCE: the aforementioned courses with high and particular experiential training and internship activities at specialized structures.

Expected starting date: THE E-LEARNING COURSE WILL BE AVAILABLE FROM OCTOBER 30, 2020 (you can register at any time).

Activities: The course will be delivered in e-learning mode on a platform whose access is 24/7. The learning path is supported by online educational materials that are divided into different modules. The theoretical part will make use of pre-recorded lessons (E-learning) whereas, for the practical part, there are activities aimed at reinforcing and stabilizing the notions transmitted during the lesson. The activities aim at applying theoretical notions to concrete reality by solving problems and finding effective solutions otherwise known as problem solving, role playing, brainstorming.

Purpose: The Sterilization Operator – following the certificate of qualification obtained at the end of a specific professional training – will be able to fully carry out his activity within the sterilization chain. His activities are linked to a role of dependence on needs that the sterilization health activities manager establishes, directs and coordinates:

– within public and private offices / clinics / medical and dental centers;

– in outsourcing public and private structures;

– in collaboration with other professional operators in charge of this role, according to the criterion of multi-professional work.

Type of Certification: those who have completed the planned training course and passed all the exams will obtain, at the end of the course, the certificate of STERILIZATION OPERATOR.

Duration: the course lasts for 4 months.

Required fulfilments: to obtain the certificate, students must:

  • Follow the pre-recorded video lessons;
  • Study the didactic material provided by UniCamillus;
  • Pass the three questionnaires / tests relating to the theoretical part *
  • After a minimum of 90 days from registration, it will be possible to access the practical part that will take place, also online, at the end of which the student must pass the test / questionnaire relating to the practical part *
  • After a minimum of 30 days from the access to the practical part, the student will be able to access the final assessment, administered for the purpose of obtaining the Sterilization Operator eligibility.

* the questionnaires / tests are considered passed by providing at least 75% of the correct answers for each questionnaire
