Biography

Specialist in Neurosurgery.
Privat Dozent (Venia Docendi) at the Paracelsus Medical University Salzburg, Austria.
Skull Base Fellowship at the at the Weill Cornell Medical College – Cornell University New York, USA.
Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
Specialization in Neurosurgery at the at the University Clinic of Neurosurgery – Christian Doppler Klinik Salzburg, Austria.
Degree in Medicine, Summa cum laude at the University of Catania, Italy, 2005.

In Salzburg, he worked extensively in cranial and spinal neurotraumatology, in the neurointensive approach to the neurosurgical patient, and in elective general and spinal surgery, particularly in brain and skull base tumors, awake surgery (awake surgery) and in spinal, extra- and intramedullary tumors. To further the study and to perfect surgical techniques of spinal lesions, he attended and completed the Eurospine course, obtaining in April 2014 the Diploma of the European Spine Society – Eurospine in Strasbourg, France.

He furthered his studies in microsurgical neuroanatomy and perfected his skills microsurgery through refresher courses in the United States: in August 2015, he was one of 5 European neurosurgeons chosen for a course for American neurosurgeons in Neuroanatomy Surgery at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, US.
He participated as invited speaker and faculty member at numerous neurosurgery congresses and courses, around the world. For 10 years, he was a faculty member and tutor for practical courses in Basic Anatomy for Neurosurgery and Microsurgical Neuroanatomy and practical courses in Microsurgical and Endovascular Techniques for Cerebral Revascularization at Christian Doppler Klinik – Paracelsus Medical University in Salzburg, Austria.
In February 2023 he was tutor and instructor in the organization and participation in the BioSkillsLab Neurovascular & Spine for the 20th Annual World Congress of SBMT 2023 – Los Angeles, CA – USA Currently he is member of faculty and tutor for the Comprehensive Berlin Anatomy Course – Anatomical Basis for Neurosurgery – Charité, Berlin, Germany.
He has performed more than 2000 neurosurgical operations in Austria and abroad.
He works as a Consultant in Neurosurgery in Autrsia at the AUVA Unfallkrankenhaus Salzburg, and in Italy at the Policlinico G.B. Morgagni Catania and at the Clinica del Mediterraneo Ragusa. 
He is author of more than 60 scientific articles in different international journals, reviewer and editor for several worldwide recognized neurosurgery and neuroanatomy journals.
Member of the most prestigious neurosurgical societies internationally, speaks four languages: Italian, English, French, German.
