Director of the Chair of Cardiology at the Tor Vergata University of Rome.
Director of the School of Specialization of the Chair of Cardiology of the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
He is a member of the Nominating Committee of the European Society of Cardiology.
He is Adjunct Professor of Cardiology at the University of Arkansas.
He was President of the Italian Federation of Cardiology in the two-year period 2011-2013.
He has been evaluator of the National Operational Program (PON) “Research and Competitiveness 2007-2013 for the Convergence Regions” – Ministry of Education, University and Research.
He was awarded by the President of the Republic with the Gold Medal of Merit for Public Health; He was a member of the Superior Health Council.
He investigated the role of genetics in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis by identifying and patenting genetic polymorphisms that can explain the discrepancy between the presence of risk factors and phenotypic expression of atherosclerotic disease.
In recent years he has developed the most modern techniques of structural interventional cardiology in his Hemodynamics laboratory, becoming a national and international reference point with two recent “Live sessions” made during the Indian congress and the American congress of interventional cardiology.
