FIRST LEVEL MASTER’S DEGREE IN NON-SURGICAL PERIODONTAL TREATMENT

The final aim of the Master is to provide dental hygienists with the correct approach and the specific knowledge for the different patient’s typologies treatment plans.

In the periodontal field, the dental hygienist plays a fundamental role; the professional must be endowed with the knowledge of the microbiological aspects and of the many technological innovations in order to ensure an accurate and focused treatment.

The partner of the Master’s Degree is the Istituto Stomatologico Toscano.

The Master is among the PLUS-EXPERIENCE courses thanks to the multidisciplinary and experiential characteristics.

UniCamillus divides the education courses – 1st and 2nd level Master’s Degree and High Specialization Courses – in the following classes:

  • SCIENCE: programs characterized mainly by a technical and scientific approach.
  • PLUS: programs characterized by a wide approach, with managerial insights and courses outside the medical and surgical field.
  • EXPERIENCE: courses as the abovementioned, with deep and specific practical activities (such as traineeship) to be carried out in specialized organizations.

Start: December 11th 2020

Location:

  • Lectures are held at Istituto Stomatologico Toscano
  • Traineeship and other practical activities are carried out at Istituto Stomatologico Toscano (as well in all the other appropriate entities identified for the clinical practice: firms, laboratories, etc..)

Language: Italian

Final Degree Qualification and ECST: 60 ECTS.

Duration: 12 months for a total of 1,500 hours, divided in:

  • Lectures and seminars
  • Practical activities
  • Traineeship (750 hours)
  • Autonomous study and work for the final thesis

Attendance:

Attendance is required for at least 75% of the total amount of the hours of the Master. Lectures and seminars take place one weekend per month. Traineeship schedule is to be arranged in accordance with the host entity.

Places available

The minimum number to start the course is 10. If less than 10 eligible candidates enroll in the program, UniCamillus can decide to not start the course (enrolment fees that have been already paid, will be refunded).

The maximum number of places available in the course is 50.

DIDACTIC METHODOLOGY AND PROGRAM

Within the specific professional field, the objective of the Master is to provide with theoretical and practical competencies on the issues faced by the dental hygienist.

The traineeship will be carried out at Istituto Stomatologico Toscano according to a schedule defined at the beginning of the course.

The Master’s Degree didactic program has the following modules:

1st MODULE: BIOLOGICAL BASIS OF THE PERIODONTAL TISSUES (2 ECTS)

Biology of the periodontal tissues and etiology of the periodontal disease

Analysis on the tissues’ matters around the natural teeth and the dental implants

Technologies and the web at the dental hygienist’s disposal and their role for the diagnosis

 

2nd MODULE: NON-SURGICAL PERIODONTAL TREATMENT AND DEFINITION OF THE PERIODONTAL DISEASE (2 ECTS) 

Non-surgical periodontal instruments

Potentially malignant disorders: why the gums keep bleeding

New periodontal classification

 

3rd MODULE: RESEARCH AND THE NEW FRONTIERS FOR THE PATIENT WITH PERIODONTAL AND PERI-DENTAL IMPLANTS ISSUES (2 ECTS)

Research Methodology

The evolution in the definition of the periodontal and peri-dental implant related diseases

Clinical indexes of periodontal status and assessment of the risk profile of the patient with periodontal and peri-dental implant related diseases

 

4th MODULE: PATIENT’S ANAMNESIS RELATED TO THE ORAL HEALTH (2 ECTS)

Motivate and prepare the patient as a collaborative party in the treatment; communication strategy at the dentist’s office

House technology tools and what the patient needs to know in order to correctly keep the result; clarifications on the products in the market

Osteoporosis following the menopause and its effects on the alveolar bone

 

5th MODULE: THE USE OF THE TECHNOLOGY AVAILABLE TO THE DENTAL HYGIENIST TO TREAT THE INFLAMMATION WITH A MINI-INVASIVE APPROACH (2 ECTS)

The laser in the biofilm control with respect to the periodontal treatment

The use of technology in the research for a mini-invasive approach (Ozone therapy)

The role of inflammation and the relationship between the oral and systemic diseases

 

6th MODULE: THE PATIENT WITH PERIODONTAL ISSUES AND OTHER CORRELATED DISEASES (2 ECTS)

Molar Incisor Hypomineralisation (MIH) and enamel damages: remineralization techniques

Periodontal issues in the patient under orthodontics treatment

Course: theory and practice for the dental photography

 

7th MODULE: RE-ACTIVE AND PRO-ACTIVE THERAPY (2 ECTS)

Prosthesis on dental implants: typologies and the role of the dental hygienist for the long-term conservation

Diagnostic analysis for the patient with periodontal issues: X-ray and objective examination

8th MODULE: OZONE THERAPY IN THE DENTAL HYGIENE (1 ECTS)

The use of ozone in medicine

Hypomineralisation of the enamel and correlated pathologies

The ozone therapy in the oral hygiene: prevention and treatment of the periodontal diseases

 

9th MODULE: ULTRASOUNDS AND POWDERS IN THE PERIODONTAL AND PERI-DENTAL IMPLANTS DISEASES (1 ECTS)

Mucositis and peri-dental implant inflammation

Theoretical-practical lecture on ultrasounds and powders for the patient with periodontal disease

Theoretical-practical lecture on ultrasounds and powders for the patient with peri-dental implant inflammation

 

10th MODULE: PERSONALISED THERAPIES ACCORDING TO THE PATIENT’S TIPOLOGY (2 ECTS)

Orthodontics problems in the patient with periodontal disease: the role of the dental hygienist

Hard and soft tissues’ care during the phases of the orthodontic treatment

The whitening treatment for the patients with periodontal, pre-prosthesis and post-orthodontic issues

 

11th MODULE: ORAL HEALTH MAINTENANCE (2 ECTS)

The oral health in the pre- and post-surgical phases

The organization of the treatment plan

Advices for the dental-implant maintenance

LECTURES: 20 ECTS

TRAINEESHIP: 30 ECTS

FINAL THESIS: 10 ECTS

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND THE SELECTION PROCEDURE 

A degree among the following is required to enroll in the Master (the degree must be achieved by the enrolment’s deadline):

  • Master’s Degree in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics and relative Specializations Degree
  • Degree in Technical Healthcare Professions Sciences
  • Degree in Dental Hygiene

Candidates can also apply:

  • In possession of a degree equivalent to the abovementioned, achieved under the previous University system organization
  • In possession of a foreign degree, comparable in duration and subjects to the abovementioned.

The University reserves the right to admit candidates in possession of a different degree, nonetheless pertinent to the Master’s didactic objectives.

The admission to the Master is subject to a selection procedure and to a ranking based on merit, after the screening of the candidates’ CVs. In case of a tie in the last position of the ranking, the younger candidate prevails.

If one or more candidates renounce the place, the list will be scrolled down.

 

MODALITÀ E TERMINI DI PRESENTAZIONE DELLA DOMANDA

La domanda dovrà pervenire, sottoscritta e redatta in carta semplice, nonché scritta in modo chiaro e leggibile, utilizzando il modulo disponibile sul sito, entro la data del 30 dicembre 2019.

  • con consegna a mano presso l’Ateneo (orari di apertura dal lunedì al venerdì dalle ore 9.00 alle ore 13.00);
  • a mezzo raccomandata A/R all’indirizzo: Scuola post-laurea – UniCamillus University – Via di Sant’Alessandro 8 – 00131 Roma;
  • a mezzo posta certificata all’indirizzo: unicamillus@pec.it (nell’oggetto si prega di specificare il nome del master a cui si intende partecipare)

Alla domanda dovranno essere allegati i seguenti documenti:

  • curriculum vitae et studiorum in formato europeo, datato e firmato;
  • fotocopia di un documento d’identità in corso di validità;
  • eventuali ulteriori titoli che si desidera sottoporre alla valutazione per l’ammissione;
  • dichiarazione di aver preso visione dell’Informativa relativa al trattamento dei dati personali ai sensi degli artt. 13 e 14 del Regolamento (UE) 2016/679 sulla “protezione delle persone fisiche con riguardo al trattamento dei dati personali” (di seguito anche “GDPR”) fornita da UniCamillus.
  • fotocopia del codice fiscale o della tessera sanitaria (per i cittadini italiani e per gli stranieri che ne sono in possesso);
  • per i candidati in possesso di titoli equiparati/equipollenti a quelli richiesti: dichiarazione sostitutiva di certificazione, ai sensi dell’art. 46 punto m del D.P.R. 28/12/2000, n. 445, attestante il conseguimento dei titoli stessi, ai sensi della vigente normativa;
  • i candidati aventi un titolo di studio conseguito all’estero dovranno presentare la “Dichiarazione percorso studi all’estero” (utilizzando il modulo disponibile sul sito). Entro 2 mesi dalla data di inizio delle lezioni, tali candidati dovranno consegnare alla segreteria studenti, pena l’esclusione, l’originale della traduzione ufficiale in lingua italiana dei titoli di studio completa di legalizzazione e di Dichiarazione di Valore rilasciata dall’Ambasciata italiana o Consolato generale italiano competente per territorio nel Paese nel quale il titolo è stato prodotto.

La lista degli ammessi alla selezione e la data ed il luogo della selezione saranno pubblicati sul sito di UNICAMILLUS.

LA QUOTA DI PARTECIPAZIONE

La quota di partecipazione è pari a Euro 2.000 da versare in 2 rate di pari importo:

  • Prima rata: Euro 1.000 entro il termine previsto per l’iscrizione che verrà comunicato da UNICAMILLUS insieme alla comunicazione di avvenuta ammissione al Master
  • Seconda rata: Euro 1.000 entro il 30/06/2020

Qualora il candidato non effettui il pagamento nei tempi indicati da UniCamillus nella comunicazione di ammissione perderà la posizione in graduatoria e si procederà allo scorrimento della stessa fino ad esaurimento posti.
