December 20th: International Human Solidarity Day

Message from the Rector to UniCamillus

December 20th marks the International Human Solidarity Day, established by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in 2005. The date coincides with the creation of the World Solidarity Fund which has the main purpose of eradicating poverty and promoting human and social development among the poorest sections of the population.
On the occasion of this important event, Gianni Profita, Rector of UniCamillus – International Medical University in Rome, wanted to send a message to the entire academic community, underlining that “this Day identifies solidarity as one of the fundamental and universal values that should be the basis of relations between peoples. It aims to eradicate poverty and promote human and social development among the poorest segments of the population. It is therefore a very important event for UniCamillus as it fully embraces the humanitarian values of the University which is aimed, above all, at EU and non-EU learners with a particular interest in health problems of developing countries”.
UniCamillus, therefore, is making an important contribution to eliminate the enormous disparities that still persist, by teaching that solidarity must start from each of us, showing solidarity especially with the most needy.
